Here are the projects I'm working on today:

Building and maintaining software; namely, the core APM (“Application Performance Monitoring”) product at New Relic. We help our customers keep their websites running smoothly. My team is right in the thick of incoming code, big architectural changes, and developer mentoring.

Writing a programming book with Myron Marston about RSpec 3, a test framework for Ruby coders. Our goal is to light the path toward world-class software development and testing habits.

Coaching athletes—specifically, racewalkers. This unusual sport kinda crept up on me by surprise, with an invitation to compete in the epic Portland to Coast relay walk in 2005. I've been learning, training, tinkering, and informally teaching ever since. It's time to pass these practices on to new athletes in a more concrete way, by coaching a team.
